The Lisfranc injury is a relatively rare traumatic pathology but has a significant impact on activities of daily living if not treated early and correctly. It has been shown that an adequate early intervention and an anatomical reduction with preservation of articular cartilage are the most important factors that influence the prognosis of these injuries. Management should, therefore, conform to this objective. We reviewed the literature in reference to the management of Lisfranc injuries and propose a new classification that better targets treatment and prognosis. In turn we suggest an appropriate treatment algorithm according to this new classification.
