Abstract

Conflict of interest statement: ICMJE Conflict of Interest Statement: None 7. Orthop Clin North Am. 2018 Jul;49(3):361-370. doi: 10.1016/j.ocl.2018.02.009. Epub 2018 May 8. The Influence of Obesity on Total Elbow Arthroplasty. Morrey ME(1), Hevesi M(2). Total elbow arthroplasty (TEA) has undergone a significant evolution in indications and outcomes in the past decade. Although rheumatoid patients once had the overwhelming number of TEAs, now TEAs for the sequelae of trauma predominate. Furthermore, as obesity has mirrored the increase in the posttraumatic population, TEA complications have increased whereas the durability of implants under these loads has decreased. Solutions are urgently needed to address the complications and revision burden related to posttraumatic deformity and obesity. Copyright © 2018 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
