Abstract

[Indexed for MEDLINE] 20. Orthop Clin North Am. 2017 Jan;48(1):47-58. doi: 10.1016/j.ocl.2016.08.007. Epub 2016 Oct 28. Clavicle Shaft Fractures in Adolescents. Yang S(1), Andras L(2). Author information: (1)Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, Doernbecher Children's Hospital, Oregon Health and Science University, 3181 South West Sam Jackson Park Road, Portland, OR 97239, USA. (2)Children's Orthopaedic Center, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, 4650 Sunset Boulevard, MS#69, Los Angeles, CA 90027, USA. Electronic address: landras@chla.usc.edu. Midshaft clavicle fractures in adolescents are common. Recent literature in adults fractures favors open reduction and plate fixation for significantly displaced and/or shortened midshaft clavicle fractures, although whether this applies to adolescents remains debatable. This article reviews the current literature and controversy in the management of displaced adolescent clavicle fractures. Copyright © 2016 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
